Penn State students sunk to a new low this week when they dressed as victims of the Virginia Tech shooting massacre. The photos were first seen on Facebook and outraged Virginia Tech students and people across the nation. In them, 2 Penn State students are seen with make-up that portrays blood and bullet holes in the Virginia Tech t-shirts they are wearing as a Halloween costume.
Penn State officials quickly condemned the actions and rightly so, sighting insensentivity and decency concerns. As one who is all for expression and speech, this is still sick. What should be done in this case?
Another group os students on facebook quickly organized a group called " People Against The Costume," and some even left threatening messages.
"This is a group of college students who now think it's trendy to be upset about their friends being killed," one of the two Penn State students who wore the costume said. "I don't know what they teach people in Virginia Tech, but at Penn State we don't learn to threaten people with murder to teach them that murdering is wrong."
He goes on to defend the pictures.
"
The thing is, everybody's making a big stink about Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech was 32 deaths out of the 26 thousand that happen in America everyday," he said. "That's the problem with college students. They all live in an ivory tower of privilege. They don't understand, when it all boils down to it, it's someone wearing a costume."
Reaction from Tech students and Blacksburg residents was disgust.
"That somebody would have the nerve to mock [the victims]. They were really good people," said local business owner, Carol Gwin.
Gwin knew three of the victims in the shootings and considered them cherished friends.
If the people who did cannot this do not have the ability to comprehend how wrong this is, then should they even be in college in the first place?

LA TIMES: CNN " CORRUPT NEWS NETWORK"
When the L.A. Times calls their mainstream brothers at CNN , the " corrupt news network, "you know things are bad. All this stemming from the ridiculous performance of CNN in hosting this week's Republican debate.
The newspaper excoriated CNN for choosing ridiculous questions on the confedarate flag among other things in the farce of a " debate" that saw a supposed planted Clinton supporter asking a question on gays in the military. There were supposedly over 5,000 YouTube choices to choose from and this is the best they can do? The network deserves to be criticized and should relinquish any plans to host debates if this really is the best they can do.
Let's have substantive talks in the future please about the economy, the war in Iraq, and so forth. Immigration is a key issue, but is it really necessary to keep putting Mitt Romney in position of defending his Mormon faith? It would be nice to see those who host debates be serious journalists from now on and not come off like political hacks.

British Newspaper Project Finds " America Hates Hillary And Co."
The Telegraph, a London newspaer has revealed some interesting findings from a year long study they recently completed called "Crossing America: a political odyssey. "
The daily London newspaper crisscrossed America and interviewed people all over the heartland of America and beyond to get a take on what Americans really think about their choices for America's next President ,and Americans views on politics and politicians in general.
The odyssey began inPortland, Maine and went to San Diego, Calif., with the return leg starting in the suburbs of Seatlle and ending in Florida's beaches.
What was very apparent was that Americans by and large, especially in the heartland despise Hillary Clinton, who the magazind described as " hated" and the findings revealed that she was liked by those " few and far between." However many said they would vote for her because she would be the Dmocratic candidate and was " battle tested " against the Republicans. And some women it was noted, said they would vote for her because she is a woman.
Check out the link below for a comprehensive read.

Dollar Falls To Record Lows
The dollar has fallen to record lows against the Euro in trading Friday. The 13 nation European currency is now worth 1.4966 U. S. dollars. Speculation is that this is being brought about due to the credit crisis in U.S. markets, and that another credit rate cut will occur.
While the expected rate cuts are a plus, this certainly does not bode well for the dollar and the U. S. economy in the long run. James Hughes, an analyst at CMC markets says" once again the message is that with further rate cuts expected from the Fed, the dollar is struggling to find any serious supporters. "
The Euro, the British pound and other currencies have been rising against the dollar since August . The underlying concern is the financial disaster looming in the subprime credit crisis. With oil at $98 per barrel , an unstable economy , an enormously expensive war in Iraq, and a retiring baby boomer genaration set to retire, where does that leave us economically?

Hillary " Broadly Supports" Licensing Illegals
Trying to avoid a "John Kerryesque " moment from the last Democratic presidential debate, Hillary Clinton now says she supports states' efforts to issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
Clinton was roundly criticized for her avoidance of a simple question from journalist Tim Russert on whether she supported NY Governor Elliott Spitzer's move to license illegals' in that state. It appeared she may one day say she was against it before she was for it.. or vice versa.
Good to know where Hillary stands...and that she'll probably pay a price in the general election in 2008. Either way she is now on the record. Clinton's argument is that driver's hit by undocumented immigrants and those in the shadows who need to come out would be helped, is touching, if seemingly insincere. Pandering for Hispanic votes and making access to the polls easier for illegal immigrants in 2008 is more likely.

Spitzer Setting The Stage For Massive Voter Fraud
New York Governor Elliott Spitzer appears to be setting the stage for helping Senator Hillary Clinton in he 2008 election should she run against Republican Rudy Giuliani . Spitzer has oredered state clerks to issue driver's licenses and allow those with driver's licenses to register to vote even if they have no social security cards.
Sheer insanity? Not really. A blatant effort to secure votes for the Democratic party in 2008?
Almost certainly. The New York state legislature, heavily Democratic, beat back an effort today to stop Spitzer and his cronies from this massive fraud.
If it's Giuliani against Clinton in 2008, the state of New York could be decisive. It will almost certainly be close and illegals could be the key to a Democratic victory.
A CNN poll taken on the Lou Dobbs segment said 93% of those responding believe this is to get more Democratic votes. It will also make it easier for illegals to book flights, endangering American security, and for illegals to have access to social programs.
Will Hillary Clinton come out now and denounce Spitzer's moves? Doubtful. Here's to hoping Spitzer can be impeached or stopped in some way.

Jindal Elected Governor in Louisiana
Interesting to see Bobby Jindal lected governor of Louisiana yesterday, with 54% of the vote . Jindal ran as Republican and is the first non-white governor ever elected in the South.
He is only 36 uears old and is the son of Indian immigrant parents and is Oxford educated. This is quite a coup for the GOP , not normally known as the party of minorities in America. Also interesting since many tried to blame the failings of government on George Bush and his Republican administration after hurricane Katrina. This certainly is a sure indication that Democratic governor Kathleen Blanco is getting her share of the blame.

Sanchez: War a " Nightmare With No End In Sight"
Former top commander of U. S, forces in Iraq, Richard Sanchez, says " there is no doubt that America is living a nightmare with no end in sight. " Sanchez made the statement to a convention of military journalists on Friday.
The sad part is that Sanchez is probably right. We will most likely be in Iraq until there is a government in place there that is strong enough to insure the mineral rights of oil companies that are reaping the benfits of our involvement in Iraq. Sadly also, America needs the oil and energy resources . We cannot supply ourselves as long as environmental concerns outweigh our need to explore ANWR or build refineries. Our economy would quickly shut down without energy resources.
An offshoot of our involvement there is that we are currently engaging terrorists who wish to destroy us and we have also deposed a tyrannical dictator. These are good things.
The problem is that we have also destabilized an entire region. If the terrorists in the region gain control of the oilfields due to a premature departure on our part, they will become stronger immediately. And hence, we will become eminently more vulnerable.

Mexican Presdient's Self Serving Comments
Mexican President Felipe Calderon's criticism of the U.S. for building a fence to stem the flow of illegal immigration would be laughable if it wasn't such a serious problem for the United States.
Speaking on ABC's ' Good Morning America" Monday , Calderon assailed the planned fence, saying ' the world is open in so many ways, we need to build bridges and not fences. " Calderon went on to praise the Bush administration's attempt at " comprehensive immigration reform."
Calderon said he thought illegal immigration to the U. S. would decrease possibly " in a decade" after Mexico's economy grew.
How wonderful .. we can look forward to this in " only a decade. " What will be left of America as we know it afer another decade of disastorous policy and our country and our resources being ransacked by foreign invaders. Thanks President Calderon. You have given us all something to look forward to.

Denying Guard Troops Benefits Is Shameful
Recent revelations that America's longest serving National Guard troops in Iraq are being denied educational benefits earned because of a technicality is shameful. 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard served 22 months in Iraq as part of " the surge." Now they are being denied benefits becuase their orders were written for 729 days.. and not 730 days ( 2 years) .
That extra day would have given the guard troops an extra 500 to 800 dollars per month. This is scandalous. Let's give the troops that money... and cut off benefits to the beureaucrats that are denying them what should be their's.

Congress Has Become "Trivial Pursuit"
Congress has trivialized itself recently with all the resolutions condemning what people say.
The only things passed seem to be legislation condemning MoveOn.org or Rush Limbaugh. Nothing meaningful seems to be getting done. If this is the best Congress can do, perhaps we need to get rid of thew lot and start over.
Perhaps they should only meet one week a month and take a large paycut.. to say 50,000 per year for their pathetic services. We'd probably all be better off and so would America.

Hillary Wants 5k- Anchor Babies To Abound
Hillary Clinton's call for $5k for every baby born in this country in the future is ludicrous. The so-called " baby bond" idea originated in California and Clinton has apparently co-opted the idea. The bond would supposedly pay for college or buying a home.
Of course Hillary was pandering as she spoke before the Congrssional Black Caucus and no one knows how serious she is, but the cost would be staggering considering there 4 million babies born annually in America.
Another question is..how will this impact illegal immigration? Our southern border, already overrun will surely become a highway for those seeking to get their children "off on the right foot" at the expense of American taxpayers. Anchor babies will proliferate.
Will Hillary's proposal deter or encourage illegal immigration? Surely it will encourage it as never before.

NY City And State Lawmakers May Penalize Columbia
The New York Sun is reporting that the city and state legislatures in New York may withohold funds from the school in the wake of the Ivy League institution having Iranian President Ahmadenijad as a speaker today.
Lawmakers have apparently warned Columbia President Lee Bollinger there will be repercussions for having the man who is officially listed as a terrorist by our government speak. In an interview with state assmebly speaker Sheldon Silver, the Sun is reporting that Silver says lawmakers are outraged and will consider holding back financial assistance for the school along with capital aid.
Silver and other lawmakers are joining an outcry that the school is giving a forum for propaganda and legitamizing the anti-American terrorist and leader. Bollinger says it is a matter of academic freedom and first amedment rights.
This is a most difficult situation. I detest Ahmadenijad and everything he stands for, especially his anti-Americanism and his tyranny in his own country, where there have reportedly been numerous executions recently. Some of the offenses given death were homosexuality and women being stoned to death for not following Islamic law.
Is this really the kind of person we want speaking at our institutions at taxpayer expense? Columbia students say they will grill him rigorously. We will see.
The question of whether we will allow this tyrant who is supporting forces that kill Americans daily in Iarq, one who denies the Holocaust, one who sanctions state terrorism, to have an open forum is debatable. Should the state and city legislatures stifle this type of " free" speech by withdrawing funds?
Columbia and schools like it have become podiums for what seems like anti-American propaganda recently. Who is correct, and should we abandon our principles to correct their seemingly traitorous nature? Is this free speech or legitamizing an illegitimate despot?

Ahamdinejad At Columbia
Should Ahamdinejad be allowed to speak at Columbia? If this is really about free speech why is Columbia University President Lee Bollinger denying the request of the press to hear the Iranian president and holocaust denier speak? Will there be debate or will this just be an open forum for the anti-American and Jew hater to spew his propaganda.
It is interesting that this is the same university that refuses to let ROTC chapters operate on campus. It seems on surface this is the continuation of anti-Americanism on Ivy League campuses. At least his request to tour ground zero in NYC was denied.

Olson Should Be Attorney General
Much has been in the news lately about who the next Attorney General of the United States should be. Democrats are eager to have a " non-political" attorney general. Is there any such thing , and should the Democrats expect such ?
Did Clinton or Carter or Kennedy provide the Republicans or America with such a person? No , of course not.
The best person for the job is brilliant constitutional lawyer Ted Olson. Olson represented Bush before the Supreme Court in the Bush v. Gore case. This shows just how talented he is. This is also the problem. Democrats will never confirm Olson without a fight that will be reminiscent of the Bork confirmation hearings.
Democrats could care less who the best person for the job is. They just can't afford to have Bush rub their faces in the mud before the moveon.org crowd.

Gingrich Says Republicans Need " Clean Break " From Bush
Former House Republican Leader Newt Gingrich says that Republicans need a " clean break" from President Bush to win the 2008 election.
Reuters says that Gingrich was quoted as saying, " If you don't represent real change, you just gave away the 2008 election." Gingrich cited the Iraq war, the federal government's handling of Katrina, and the country's broken borders and immigration system as proof that we need to change the way we govern.
He added: " I believe for any Republican to win in 2008 , they have to offer a bold ,dramatic change. If we nominate somebody like that, they get the nomination, but there is very, very little chance they can win."
This statement is probably true, the country is ready for a change. But is Gingrich... who seems to fancy the nomination himself, however undeclared he may be, the person who represents a " new diredtion "?

OJ IN THE NEWS- ROBBERY IN VEGAS?
O.J. Simpson is back in the news...the same day that his ghostwritten book, "If I Did It", was released. The book supposedly tells how O.J. " might have killed" Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman " if he did it."
This time he is accused of holding up a sports Memorabilia dealer at gunpoint, supposedly for items " that belong to me."
Can you get life for this ? Let's hope he gets the max allowed by law.

Seante Votes To Block Meixcan Trucks
A U.S. Senate vote on Tuesday to block Mexican trucks from traveling in OUR country is welcome. The Senate voted to block funding for a Bush administration test progam that will let long-haul Mexican trucks cross the U.S. and drive on our highways. The prgram s part of the 1994 NAFTA agreement.
This move is especially welcome since a Mexican truck loaded with dynamite exploded Monday.
29 people were killed when the long-haul truck hit a pickup truck. Do we really want unregulated Mexican trucks on our highways?
The Bush administration responded by saying it had "enough safeguards in placeto insure a safe and secure program." Hello..is anyone out there? W and his cronies have got to be kidding!

N.C. School Bans American Flag On Clothing
Talk about political correctness! Hobbton High School in Sampson County, N.C. has banned the American flag on clothing, even for 9/11.
Gayle Langston said her daughter Jessica wanted to hear her stars and stripes and stripes t-shirt, but couldn't. "Today she wanted to wear her shirt and I had to tell her no said Langston. Of all days, 9/11 she couldn't wear her American flag shirt.
According to the school, this policy stems from a controversy that became about because of students wearing flags from other countries. The superintendent of schools in Sampson County calls the unfortunate but said that educators " did not want to be forced to pick and choose which flags should be permissible."
Pick and choose? We are in the United States of America.. at least for right now anyway. So..why not let students wear OUR flag. I'm sure this is to avoid problems stemming from wearing the flag of other countries.. like say Mexico.. hmm.. that could cause confrontations. It seems this is denying AMERICAN CITIZENS their rights. Political correctness run amuck again!

San Francisco Drafting Legislation to Give ID Card To Illegals
San Francisco city supervisor Tom Ammiano is drafting legislation to give city ID cards to illegal immigrants according to Friday's San Francisco Chronicle.
Perhaps the most liberal city in America, San Francisco would be the first large city to do this, though it has already been done in New Haven, Ct. and the move is being contemplated in New York City as well. The ID card would make it possible for illegal immigrants to receive city services in this sanctuary city. Ammiano believes this would help illegals report crimes against them and so forth. An ID card would also grant them access to health care and other government services.
Is this the signal we should be sending to those that come here illegally , even as an anti-illegal immigration ground swell across the country helped to shhot down a recent amnesty bill? Opponents are furious.. and they should be. This measure will almost surely pass... and makes you wonder.. how many illegals will vote in San Francisco during next year's elections?

Increased Spying On Muslims
Word Comes from McGlatchy News Service this week that Germany is considering increasing spying on Muslims in that country in the wake of thwarting what might have been a " massive attack" on American installations there.
Surely there will be the usual outcry from the left , who will shutter at the use of such spying to find would-be terrorists. We should all be for preserving the rights of individulas to live freely not just in Germany but around the globe.
But do terrorists have a right to use those freedoms to kill innocent people ? Do those who are targets of terrorists have a right to live in peace and safety? If that takes some extra scrutiny from the authorities where the terrorists are hatching their cells...then so be it.

Giuliani: Illegal Immigration Not A Crime
Rudy Giuliani said on Glenn Beck's program Friday that illegal immigration was not a crime. Of course it is.. .though currently only a misdemeanor offense.
Comments like these will not endear Giuliani to the Republican base , for whom this is a hot button issue. Giuliani will probably not gain the nomination making such statements. That is probably bad news for the Republicans because Giuliani is the oneperson who would most likely beat Hillary Clinton head to head..
The failure to obey America's immigration laws should be made a felony in my opinion, ecpecially for those who only come here to take rather than give something back to America for the opportunities they gain. And lawmakers who do not respect the sovereignty of our nation should not seek the highest office in the land.

Kathleen Willey Says Clintons Stole Manuscript
Kathleen Willey , known as the woman who charged Bill Clinton with groping her in the White House, says now that the Clintons are behind the theft of a manuscript for her upcoming book.
Willey told WorldNetDaily that she was the target of a break-in last weekend that resulted in the theft of her manuscript. The book will apparently reveal damaging information that could harm Hillary Clinton's candidacy according to Willey.
Willey says that even jewelry and electronics were taken as she slept on her rural Virginai home, but that the pages of her manuscript were stolen. Willey said the theft was especially suspicious because it cam only days after the first mention of the new book in the media.
Among the revelations in the book are apparently the fact that Willey was threatened just days before testifying against the Clintons, and the fact that the person who threatened her tirned out to be lnked to the Clintons.
Interesting. Either the Clintons are the worst people who ever lived or get blamed for more than anyone else. Ever.'

Undermining Petraeus
S.A. Miller writes in today's edition of the Washington Times that Democrats are already hard at work trying to undermine the credibility of General David Petraeus before he delivers his findings on the success of the " surge" next week. Miller says that Democrats will portray Petraeus as a " mouthpiece for Bush" who can't be trusted.
Several Democrats including Dick Durbin, Sen. -Illl. and Seate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada as well as House Leader Nancy Pelosi of California hjave already referred to the coming report by Petraeus as " the Bush Report."
Republicans have raised skepticism by helping in the drafting of the report..and they decry the words of Democrats as " a preemptive strike." This is one area where there should be no room for partisanship and politic gamesmanship. Of course these things will take place however.
Pathetic happenings like Senator Chuck Schumer, Dem- N.Y coming out today and suggesting that gains in Iraq were not due to the hard work of our troops and were mostly attributable to
Iraqis growing tired of the insurgency and taking matters into their own hands and fighting for themselves are abominable politics and yet should give us hope that there will be a day when they can defend their own country.
The White House should stay out of the drafting of a report like this. Maybe the American people will soon grow tired of all these shenanigans and throw all the bums out. Now that will be a day to look forward to.

Fred Thompson Announces For President
Now that Fred Thompson has announced, will he win the Republican nomination.. and is he worthy of it?
It seems like the longing for another Ronald Reagan has led those in the Republican party who support his candidacy to become enamored of Thompson. They were both actors... and it's there that the comparisons stop in my opinion. Thomnpson is not as accomplished as several others in the race such as Romney , Giuliani or even John McCain.
The publicity Thompson has gotten strikes me as a bit odd in light of all the other candidates in the race and his relative lack of accomplishment as a political figure. My guess is that Thompson will finish third Behind Giuliani and Romney in the race for the Republican nomination.
There is a longing for a real leader in the Republican Party. I just don't think that rergardless of how much publicity he receives.. or how much he is tauted by the press and backers...he is that person.

Don't Bail Out Investors and Lenders
Statements made today by Federal Reserve chariman Ben Bernake that investors and lenders " should not be bailed out " from the consequences of their financial decisions," seems exactly right.
The Fed's moves lately to infuse the economy with more cash and cut interest rates were welcomed, but let's hope we don't see a repeat of the 80's S&L crisis .

Rove May Be A Bit Premature On History And Bush
Bush presidential advisor Karl Rove writes in today 's National Review online that " President Bush will be seen as a compassionate leader that used America's power for good.
While Rove admits that he cannot be seen as an unbiased observer by any means, he is premature in his assessment. Perhaps Bush will be seen as a president who squandered American lives and treasure to secure oil rights for his corporate sponsors and settle a personal score with Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Perhaps he will be seen as a president whose foreign policy blunders de-stabilized an entire region and gave increased power to an Iranian tyrant who will wield the wealth and all the evil that the world's greatest oil reserves can buy, when Iran gains a share of Iraq.
Only time will tell.

Nifong In Contempt
Mike Nifong, the former Duke rape case prosecutor has been found guilty of criminal contempt for lying to a judge and withholding evidence in the case. His sentence...one day in jail.
He faced a possible sentence of 30 days in jail and a $500 fine. He got off way too light in this instance. Though he has lost his law license and been publicly disgraced already, here's hoping he gets further punishment in line with the attepted destruction of 3 young mens' lives.

Gonzalez Needed To Go But Better Than Reno
Anyone who truly loves America cannot be sad to see Alberto Gonzalez resign .
Forget the politically partisan witchhunt surrounding the phony U.S. Attorneys scandal, who serve at the leisure of the president . Bill Clinton replaced every U.S. attorney save one, and even replaced one that was investigating he and his wife's involvement in the Whitewater scandal, and replaced him with one of his own staffers.
Gonzalez needed to go. Any Attorney General who describes members of muderous gangs such as MS 13 as "people going through a bad stretch," needs a reality check and another job. His support for illegal imigration will eventually reveal his hand in the Ramos and Compean debacle I believe.
Gonzalez was a crony of George Bush who was, according to many unqualified.
Sharp tongued conservative columnist Ann Coulter, writing for townhall.com ,says that Gonzalez
however, killed 0 Americans, while former Clinton A. G. Janet Reno killed 80. This an obvious reference to Waco and the David Koresh disaster.
Add in the dismantling of the CIA and other intelligenge agencies prior to 9/11, and Gonzalez may look like an improvement....but not by much.

Hillary To Give Back Cash From Fugitive
Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer announced today that the candidate will give away over 23,000 dollars in campaign contributions from a wanted fugitive in California, Norman Hsu.
Hsu is wanted on charges of failing to appear for setencing in connection with a 1991 charge of grand theft. Hsu has donated over $260,000 to Democratic Party candidates and groups since 2004, including Al Franken among others, according to the Drudge report.
There needs to be sweeping campaign finance reform for sure...it just seems that the Clintons are better than anyone when it comes to attracting " dirty money."

Larry Craig Debate On Hannity And Colmes
The Larry Craig debate brought out interesting points tonight with guests Dennis Prager and Juan Williams joining the hosts, conservative Sean Hannity and left leaning Allan Colmes. The fact that Craig, R- Idaho , would plead guilty to disorderly conduct to avoid publicizing " more serious" charges in relation to his possible connection to attempt toill have gay sex in a Minneapolis airport bathroom does not bode well for the Senator. As Republicans begin to line up against him, he will likely be forced to resign soon.
Williams and Colmes pointed out correctly that is is hypocritical for Craig to espouse " family values" while possibly living a secret life which has been rumored for twenty-five years. Hannity and Prager noted that it is hypocritical for Democrats to ask for the resignations of Republicans such as Craig and disgraced Republican and former Florida Representive Mark Foley, while supporting the actions of Bill Clinton , Gerry Studds, and Barney Frank.
Foley was asked to resign for illicitly emailing a House page. Studds was a Democrat who actually had sex with a page, and Frank was found to have a prostitution ring operating out of his D. C. apartment and was being run by his gay lover.
While Democrats are howling for the head of Craig, they supported the re-election of Studds, and Frank is still in office. Republicans at least pressured Foley to resign. Who is worse? Both parties are full of hypocrites and people who don't deserve to be in office. Can't America do any better than this?
